Last week, Klaipėdos valstybinė kolegija (KVK) hosted its 25th International Week “Importance of Staff Wellbeing”, bringing together participants from 21 foreign higher education institution for five days of professional exchange, networking, wellbeing activities and discovery of Lithuanian seaside.

This year International Week focused on an increasingly important topic in higher education: creating a healthy and supportive working environment for academic and administrative staff.

The week opened with a welcome event featuring presentations of KVK and participating institutions. It concluded with a guided tour of Klaipėda Old Town and an interactive Lithuanian ethno-cultural experience, giving international guests an opportunity to become acquainted with the city, Lithuanian culture and one another.

Throughout the week, participants visited all KVK’s faculties and took part in a diverse programme combining professional development with practical approaches to physical and emotional wellbeing. Activities included yoga, facial exercise and massage practice, Nordic walking, Heat and Cold therapy, Tai Chi as well as a lecture and practical activity on oral health and its impact on general health.

This week also introduced guests to identity of Lithuania’s maritime. Participants enjoyed lunch aboard the iconic sailing ship Meridianas, experienced the 360° virtual reality movie I am Lithuania, visited the M52 Sūduvis Ship – Museum and traveled to the Lithuanian Sea Museum where they had an amazing opportunity to visit the Dolphin Therapy Center and Baltic Sea Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center.

The 25th International Week once again demonstrated the value of international cooperation at KVK. Bringing colleagues from foreign higher education institutions together created space not only for academic and professional exchange, but also for new connections, intercultural dialogue and reflection on how higher education institutions can support the wellbeing of their communities.

We look forward to continuing these partnerships and welcome our international partners to Klaipėda in the future. The next International Week is scheduled for 12-16 April 2027. More information is coming soon.
