In order to provide you with more information about studying in General Practice Nursing, we have talked to international students Feruzbek Rakhimov, who is doing his Bachelor`s degree in KVK, and Christian Ogwu, who has finished his studying in February and already got his diploma. Both of them have chosen KVK as a first step in their medical career, being certain that our institution provides all necessary facilities to develop personally and professionally.
“I always wanted to be a nurse, I wanted to do something in my career that is challenging, interesting, and makes a difference in people’s daily lives”, shares Christian. He comes from Nigeria, and have been an international student in KVK.
“When I was looking for a nursing studying program in Klaipeda, KVK turned out to be the only university that offers such possibility”, comments Feruzbek. He is from Uzbekistan, and is a third-year international student of KVK. “I like Klaipeda. It is a small city, everything is located close to the dorm, and weather is nice in spring and summer. If you prefer comfortable and tranquil lifestyle, this city is the best option.”
Faculty staff takes the vital part in training of specialists. Christian states, “I like professors in KVK. Being a professor is not only about classroom teaching, it is much beyond that. Professors here want to share, discuss, debate over ideas and issues. I have learnt a lot from them.”
While being the students of KVK, they are also able to combine work in the field and studying. “I have been working in Klaipeda Hospital for one year by now. Now, I occupy a position of assistant and take part in surgıcal operations. Surgical Department Staff is great, and I like the way we are working together very much”, says Feruzbek.
During their practice in the hospital, international students have a mentor, who helps them deal with each and every arising question. “Since I work in a hospital myself, it is not very difficult to organize the practice for international students. Students can as well choose a department, where they want to take medical practice,” comments Irina Zelenienė, who gives both theoretical lectures in KVK and practical trainings in hospital. “Working with international students is special and interesting. It takes a lot of effort and mind,” she adds.
Both Feruzbek and Christian are satisfied with their studying experience in KVK. Feruzbek comments, “I recommend KVK, especially for students from my region. It is a great opportunity to build a future in EU, to travel, to meet new people and cultures. I have met many people that helped me to broaden my horizons”. And Christian adds, “The faculty and administration staff is very friendly and helpful. Adapting to a new culture can be difficult, but they are always ready to give an advice and guide you”.
