Students from Klaipėda State University of applied Sciences and the Lithuanian Maritime Academy will jointly carry out the “Events Academy” project, fostering partnership and inviting students from other higher education institutions in Klaipėda to participate in project activities.
The project will develop various competencies among the participants. The project’s organizational team will learn about the stages, rules, risks, and other aspects of professional event organization. Additionally, students in this group will put their acquired knowledge to the test in practice.
A student creative initiative was chosen for the project’s implementation because event organization is a creative process. Furthermore, the content of the organized events will explore and encourage the creativity of students from higher education institutions in Klaipėda.
The project is unique because it creates a model in which the skills students possess provide opportunities for the development of other students’ growth and creativity. The project’s innovation lies in addressing the requirements for future employees within today’s study process through formal and informal learning.
Goal
To develop students’ competencies in organizing academic and recreational events by fostering skills in communication and collaboration, idea generation, teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, and creativity.
Results and outcomes
The following results are expected upon completion of the project:
1. 30 students from Klaipėda State College and the Lithuanian Maritime Academy will enhance their skills in event organization and learn to collaborate at the institutional level. They will improve their creativity, critical thinking, and initiative. These outcomes will be demonstrated through the implementation of practical activities (educational seminars and a talent competition). Additionally, the competencies acquired will be discussed following the project’s completion during a virtual meeting, where a SWOT analysis will be conducted verbally.
2. 160 students from higher education institutions in Klaipėda, by participating in educational seminars, and 20 students in the talent competition, will learn how to properly showcase their skills and present them publicly. Additionally, by completing surveys (which will be available online and accessible via a QR code), they will provide feedback on the quality of events organized by the student group and their personally enhanced competencies.
3. The dissemination and promotion of project activities will provide the communities of Klaipėda’s higher education institutions with information about the enhancement of students’ general competencies, as well as their creative potential and talents.
4. Students will successfully apply the skills they have acquired both in their studies and later in their professional careers. The implementation of the project holds great promise and has strong potential for continuation. In the future, when initiating new projects, the goal will be to ensure that the development of these competencies takes place annually and involves as many students as possible, so that the implementation of the idea becomes an ongoing process and newly enrolled students can creatively express their talents.
