Short description: The aim –This is a BIP designed for students of Surveying Engineering, and other related engineering study programmes. The main objective of this module is to introduce students to the application of Sustainable Urban Planning Using Remote Sensing. The programme presents how digital technologies and geospatial information are used in European cities to support data-driven urban management.
Students will analyse the spatial structure of Klaipėda and explore how sustainable urban planning contributes to environmental and infrastructure management. The course also examines advanced 3D data collection methods such as UAV photogrammetry and LiDAR, as well as the creation of digital terrain and surface models for city applications.
In addition, the module highlights the role of environmental monitoring, artificial intelligence, and digital mapping in biodiversity assessment and sustainable spatial planning, demonstrating how local data can be integrated into digital city twin models.
