Communicates with patients and their families, and helps resolve care problems. Takes part in the work of the healthcare team, and plans and implements patient care.

Newborn Care Professional Practice Placement
Activities during the placement: The student takes part in the activities of the healthcare team, caring for the health of the newborn. Addresses issues of maintaining and promoting health, plans outpatient care, and informs family members about tests and procedures. Carries out newborn examination, prepares for procedures and examinations, and teaches family members about breastfeeding, daily routine and infant nutrition. Assesses newborn maturity, identifies nursing care needs, and coordinates the care plan in the inpatient setting

Nursing Placement for Women with Somatic and Gynaecological Diseases
Activities during the placement: The student takes part in a health and interprofessional team, nursing pregnant women, women in labour, and sick women. Addresses issues of health maintenance and improving quality of life, promotes self-care, and works with patients and their families. Manages documentation, assesses vital signs, assists with procedures, and independently carries out nursing actions in accordance with legislation and EU directives.

Emergency medical care and intensive care nursing placement
Activities during the placement: The student assesses the condition of critically ill patients, uses medical equipment, performs obstetric procedures, and provides first aid to patients of all ages, including in emergency conditions. Carries out case analysis, prepares independent work, identifies nursing problems, plans care, applies intensive care algorithms, and assesses the indications and contraindications of procedures.

Perinatal and Postnatal Care Placement
Activities during the placement: The student communicates with pregnant women, helps draw up a birth plan, assesses risk factors, and draws up an individual support plan. Provides care during labour and the postpartum period, and performs procedures within the midwife’s competence (conducting deliveries, episiotomy, suturing). Monitors the condition of the mother and foetus, applies pain-relief methods, promotes breastfeeding, and ensures a safe environment. In critical conditions, works in a team, prepares for Caesarean section, and assists with procedures and operations.

Activities during the placement: The student applies antenatal care protocols, assesses pregnancy risk, and cares for the pregnant woman at all stages of pregnancy. Carries out examinations, plans prenatal diagnostics, evaluates results, and advises on breastfeeding, newborn care and lifestyle. Introduces the signs of labour, prepares for childbirth, and applies individualised education. Manages documentation, plans care, and takes cultural characteristics into account. Works as part of a team to ensure the health of the mother and foetus and the successful course of pregnancy.

Activities during the placement: The student provides midwifery care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period – assessing the condition of the mother and foetus, carrying out the necessary tests, planning prenatal diagnostics, and advising on breastfeeding, a healthy lifestyle, and preparation for childbirth. Provides education, applies pain relief methods, delivers babies, performs episiotomies, and sutures perineal tears. Recognises critical conditions, collaborates with a team of specialists, prepares the woman for a Caesarean section, and assists with procedures. Manages medical documentation, ensures a safe and hygienic environment, and communicates with the woman and her family, taking into account individual and cultural characteristics

Activities during the placement: The student reflects on professional skills, assesses their development, and plans their career. Carries out applied research and designs the final thesis. Draws up and implements an individual care plan for pregnant women, and provides midwifery care at all stages of pregnancy, including care at home. Assesses risk factors and test results, and provides advice on healthy lifestyle and breastfeeding issues. Takes part in the work of a team of specialists, and helps in critical situations. Prepares teaching plans, carries out health promotion, evaluates the impact of nursing care, maintains documentation, analyses placement outcomes, and complies with legal and ethical requirements.
