Infection Control in Dentistry Professional Activity Placement
Activities during the placement: During the placement, students acquire and develop professional competences related to ensuring infection control in the dental care environment. They learn to properly prepare the workplace for the dentist and the patient for various dental procedures, in accordance with the principles and requirements of asepsis, antisepsis, disinfection and sterilisation. Students are able to prepare disinfectant solutions of the required concentration, disinfect and sterilise instruments, equipment and medical devices or their parts, safely use reusable instruments, and effectively organise and optimise sterilisation processes. The rational use of disinfectants is also developed, in line with sustainability and medical waste reduction strategies, without compromising infection control standards. During the placement, students become familiar with the principles of completing dental documentation: they maintain sterilisation logs, complete patients’ outpatient records during the initial visit, draw up the dental chart, and accurately record information while working as part of a team with the dentist.
This placement focuses on ensuring safe, high-quality and responsible dental care, developing students’ ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and to comply with professional ethics and hygiene standards.

Assisting the Dentist Professional Practice Placement
Activities during the placement: During the placement, working in dental surgeries or clinics, students acquire the ability to provide professional chairside assistance to specialists in various fields – general dentists, endodontists and dental hygienists. They develop teamwork skills, ensure a smooth clinical work process and contribute to quality patient care. Students also develop patient education competences: they are able to instruct patients clearly and understandably on proper oral hygiene, and teach correct tooth-brushing technique using a toothbrush and additional oral care products.

Professional practice placement in teamwork
Activities during the placement: The placement is designed to familiarise students with the principles of assisting when working in a team together with paediatric dentists and periodontists. During it, students develop collaboration, communication and professional responsibility skills necessary for effective work in a clinical environment.
Having completed the placement, students are able to engage professionally in teamwork, assist specialists, and ensure a smooth treatment process. They provide patients with detailed recommendations on oral care, taking individual needs into account.

Activities during the placement: The placement is designed to familiarise students with the principles of assisting when working in a team with oral surgeons, and with preparing patients for dental X-ray examinations. During it, students develop the practical skills needed for safe and effective work in the field of oral surgery, while also strengthening their ability to apply theoretical knowledge in clinical practice.
During the placement, emphasis is placed on applying ergonomic principles in the workplace to avoid occupational diseases, and on teaching patients individual oral hygiene, especially after surgical procedures.

Final placement
Activities during the placement: The placement is designed to familiarise students with the dental prosthetics process and with preparing patients for dental X-ray examinations. During it, students develop the practical skills needed for quality assistance in the fields of prosthodontics and orthodontics.
Students take part in preparing for the cementation of temporary and permanent prostheses and crowns, ensuring the necessary materials are ready and that procedures run smoothly. When assisting the orthodontist, they are able to select and pass orthodontic instruments, organise the workplace appropriately, and contribute to the performance of various orthodontic procedures.
During the placement, students also develop patient education competences: they are able to teach patients the principles of individual oral hygiene following dental prosthetics and orthodontic procedures, in order to ensure the long-term stability of treatment outcomes and the maintenance of oral health.
