Activities during the placement: Assesses children’s impaired and disrupted body functions, drawing on the clinical diagnosis and physiotherapy examination in order to formulate a physiotherapy diagnosis. Based on it, determines the goal and objectives of the physiotherapy procedure. Identifies factors that determine the effect of physiotherapy procedures on children’s functional condition before and after the procedures. Communicates and collaborates with patients, their family members and medical staff, providing recommendations and applying innovative physiotherapy tools and methods adapted to children’s needs.

Activities during the placement: Formulates a physiotherapy diagnosis based on the data collected and sets both long-term and short-term goals for the physiotherapy procedure, taking into account the patient’s impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions. Adapts the physiotherapy programme, modifying it according to changes in the patient’s functional condition, and provides recommendations to the patient and their family members, applying evidence-based physiotherapy tools and methods for patients with surgical, orthopaedic and trauma conditions.

Neurological Physiotherapy Placement
Activities during the placement: Carries out physiotherapy assessment of neurological patients, formulates physiotherapy goals and objectives, and draws up an individual plan taking into account the patient’s physical abilities. When carrying out procedures, they identify factors that depend on the level of neurological damage and their effect on the patient’s functional condition. Collaborates with the rehabilitation team, teaches patients and their families, and applies innovative neurorehabilitation tools and methods.

Activities during the placement: Selects appropriate methods for assessing function, and evaluates the degree of impairment of body functions and the possibilities for restoring movement function. Formulates physiotherapy goals and selects methods for restoring physical and functional activity, taking into account the patient’s age, fitness level and the nature of the illness. Independently carries out procedures, applies treatments safely, and determines their effect on health. Advises the patient and family on compensatory measures and environmental adaptation, applies innovative measures, critically assesses situations and applies leadership skills in professional practice.

Students can choose or find a placement in Klaipėda city, Klaipėda district, the region, their home town or settlement, or abroad.
Placements are carried out at:
UAB Baltic Medics; Port Polyclinic; PE Klaipėda Republican Hospital; Medical Centre UAB Lorna; UAB A. Stasiulio Rehabilitation Clinic Rehabilitation Centre Ostemeda; PE Palanga Children’s Rehabilitation Sanatorium Palangos gintaras; PE Klaipėda University Hospital; UAB Nefridos klinika; UAB SG klinika and other companies/institutions; the final placement in physiotherapy can also be carried out at sports and wellness centres, working as part of a team with rehabilitation specialists and other healthcare providers.
